Military Dept, Cons 29 Apr 1853 No. 6 - Letter from E A Blundell, Officiating Governor of Prince of Wales Island, Malacca and Singapore, to the Secretary to the Government of India regarding the proposal to erect a lighthouse on the Coney Islet instead of Barn Island. Blundell and J T Thomson have visited the Coney which is near 40 feet above sea level and seen the necessity of a lighthouse as the steamers running the Straits of Malacca are numerous. Blundell proposes that the estimated cost of $3000 for the construction be defrayed from the "Light Dues" fund.
