Goh, Soon Tioe

Records were donated to NAS by Ms Vivien Goh, daughter of Goh Soon Tioe. Ms Vivien Goh was the violinist/conductor daughter of Goh Soon Tioe, known in Singapore music history as a key player in the development of Singapore's musical history. Goh Soon Tioe was a well known performer, impressario and conductor and is best known for his illustrious teaching career. He founded the Goh Soon Tioe String Orchestra in 1954 and was appointed Conductor of the Singapore Youth Symphony Orchestra in 1970. Vivien Goh was the musical director and resident conductor of the Singapore Youth Orchestra until 1990.
