Synopsis

Wedding celebration lasted a week. Now reduced to 2-3 days to save time and money. Wedding treated as villagers' affairs, not individual family's. Collective concept (gotong royong) practised. Various ceremonies carried out by bride and bridegroom: berinai (applying henna on bride's fingers), bersanding (bride-bridegroom sitting on dias), bertandang (bride visiting bridegroom's home), mandi-mandi (communal bath by both bride and bridegroom).
