Married local Jewish girl in 1941. Evacuated wife and baby son to India when Japanese declared war. What he saw in mass screening centre in Bencoolen Street. Black market activities. His first encounter with Japanese. All Jews to register in Waterloo Street. He registered as Iraqi subject. Locked up at Beach Road Police Station before being sent to Changi Prison for internment. Conditions in prison.
