Working conditions in Water Department when Japanese took over. All local staff returned. Recalled incident when pebbles meant for Bukit Timah filters, were used to build Japanese shrine - Syonan Jinja. Did black market business after leaving Water Department. Relating incident to illustrate civilian justice at that time. He supplied black market goods to Japanese. Commodities Japanese wanted. How black market business was conducted.
