Synopsis

Met husband at university; married 1963; one daughter.  Husband's work in Indonesia in 1963; broke work contract to join him; returned to Singapore after Indonesian coup. Part-time teaching; hospitals' work. Husband's job in Bangkok, 1968; her life as expatriate wife, mother. Husband's work in Bangkok, Penang and Australia (1967 -1976); moving with him. Attempted master's degree; no concentration; constant moving. In Penang, did research/project on women factory workers for master's degree; Eventually did PhD. Returned to Singapore 1981; daughter's studies in United States; husband still abroad. Wife/mother roles in her travelling years; support groups eg. UN Wives Group.
