The map, from an actual survey by G D Coleman and printed in 1836, shows roads, rivers, buildings and structures, hachures, mangrove marshes (swamps), sand and mud areas, gambier plantations, gambier and pepper plantations, land partly cleared for sugar and cotton plantations, paddy (padi) fields, surih (sureh) gardens, Chinese vegetable gardens, brick kilns, Bugis Village, fishing village, Tombs of Malayan Princes, Sultan's premises, mosque, Chinese pauper hospital, Roman Cathloic chapel, missionary chapel, English church (St Andrew's), Armenian Church, Singapore (Raffles) Institution, Court House, police office, battery, Christian burying ground, Government Hill, Pearl's Hill, Mount Sophia, Bukit Seligie, Sepoy Lines, new cut (canal), projected bridge over Singapore River, Kelang (Kalang) River, Rochor River, Salat (Neil) Road, Tanjong Passar (Pagar) Road, South Bridge Road, North Bridge Road, Beach Road, Bras Bassa (Basah) Road, Middle Road, presently non-existing roads Jalan Sasal, Jalan Sampil, Jalan Sunee, Jalan Passar, Jalan Ramee and Jalan Bugis, and others.
