This map of Borneo, constructed principally from that of Baron Melvill de Carnbee and the unpublished Admiralty Surveys, shows soundings and submarine contours at the north-west coast of Borneo, place names, towns, villages, mountains, some with names, hachures, islands, some with names, rivers, many with names, named bays, Bruni (Bandar Seri Begawan), Kuching, Pontianak, Borneo Proper (covering Sarawak and Sabah), with Province of Sarawak on the western end, Mount Kini Balu (Kinabalu) or Chinese Widow, Kini Balu Lake, Territory of the Sultan of Sooloo (Sulu), and others. Also shown are 4 insets: (1) Outline Sketch of the Indian Archipelago (South-East Asia) Containing also Some Physical Features, showing volcanoes, principal products of Borneo, and British Possessions, (2) Province of Sarawak showing geology, soundings and submarine contours, (3) The British Isles on the same scale as the map of the Archipelago and (4) Labuan Island showing soundings and submarine contours.
