CLEAN AND GREEN WEEK - SUB-COMMITTEE FOR BUSINESS AND VOLUNTARY GROUPS
[325 pages] The contents of the file cover the work of the Steering Committee that was formed for the GEW event led by the Ministry of Environment. The Sub-Committee for Business and Voluntary Groups was one of the Sub-Committees formed by the Steering Committee to engage the Business and Voluntary Organisations Community for their engagement in activities planned for the GEW from 11-17 Nov 1990. The GEW event arose from a proposal by 1DPM to replace the annual Tree Planting Day (TPD) with a Good Environment Day (GED) to focus on the Environment and the Surrounding Community. The objectives was to create awareness of, interest in and care for the Environment and inculcate a sense of responsibility. A Steering Committee that was formed comprising officials from MND, MCD and ENV to look into replacing TPD with GED decided to extend it to a GEW instead of a one day event.
