National Computer Board (Singapore)
The National Computer Board (NCB) is a statutory board dedicated to the development of information technology in Singapore. Its mission is to drive Singapore to excel in the information age ny exploiting IT extensively to enhance Singapore's economic competitiveness and quality of life. set up in 1981 as a statutory board under the Ministry of Finance, it was transferred to the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) in April 1997. On 1 Dec 1999 it was merged with the Telecommunication Authority of Singapore (TAS) to form the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), a statutory board under the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT).

The NCB spearheaded the implementation of IT2000, a master-plan that sought to transform Singapore into an intelligent island, where IT is pervasive in every aspect of its society. It also worked closely with other government agencies to develop Singapore as an IT mega-hub for the Asia Pacific region, and a preferred base where IT-based products and services were conceived, developed and supplied to the region.
