As part of efforts to further enhance bilateral relations between Singapore and Brunei, a group of 18 students from both countries will pit their skills in a reality TV programme and a Malay-language debate.
2 These student activities are part of the annual programmes under the MOU Concerning Co-operation in the Field of Broadcasting (Broadcasting MOU) between the two countries. This year marks the 21st year of the signing of the Broadcasting MOU, which covers the areas of broadcast programme exchanges, joint TV and radio productions, as well as education, training of personnel and research. The other programmes under the aegis of the MOU include Rapsodi - a joint gala variety show- as well as a Malay drama, starring actors from Singapore and Brunei and filmed in both countries.
3 Mr Zaqy Mohamad, Member of Parliament and former GPC Chairman for the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA) will lead the Singapore delegation to Brunei Darussalam from 24 – 26 June 2011. He will be accompanied by Mr Chan Yeng Kit, Permanent Secretary of MICA, and senior officials from the Media Development Authority and MediaCorp. During the visit, Mr Zaqy and Mr Chan will also call on Brunei’s Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dato Paduka Haji Abd Wahab bin Juned to further discuss the programmes under the Broadcasting MOU.
4 Mr Zaqy and Dato Paduka Haji Omar bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Permanent Secretary in the Brunei’s Prime Minister’s Office will be the Guests-of-Honour for the two student programmes - Xpedisi Siswa (University Expedition) and Titian Minda (Bridging Minds). Both programmes will be recorded in Brunei in front of a “LIVE” audience and televised in Singapore and Brunei Darussalam.
