Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will be attending the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas* (Global Indian Diaspora) in New Delhi, India, from 8-9 January 2010. Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be inaugurating the event.

Minister Vivian will be speaking at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas during the session devoted to discussing the interests and concerns of the Indian Diaspora.  During the visit, Minister Vivian, who is Singapore's Co-Chair for the India-Singapore Parliamentary Forum (ISPF), is scheduled to meet the Indian Co-Chair Mr Milind Deora as well as members of the Indian business community.

It aims to bring expertise and knowledge of the overseas Indian community to India and support India's development.  Singapore has actively supported the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, including hosting the regional PBD-Singapore in October 2008.
