BROTHER JOSEPH McNALLY
It is with a deep sense of loss that we learnt of the death of Brother Joseph McNally. He was a missionary in more senses than one. His love of God, his vision and passion, inspired him to create. He established and built an arts college, LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts that is today recognised as a top-class arts education institution. Brother McNally produced works of art that will continue to influence the Singapore arts scene, and capture the imagination of his audience long after his passing. He knew his God had provided a path that would lead him to influence, educate and inspire a whole generation of artists, students and audiences, at home and abroad. In 1997, Brother McNally was conferred the Meritorious Service Medal for his lifetime contributions to the arts and education. He was a son of Ireland, and a son of Singapore. We are proud that he made Singapore his home.
