On 31st December 1999, Singapore will witness five major countdown parties, located around the island, for the ushering in of the new millennium. They are: Millennium 2000 at National Stadium, Millennium Swing Singapore at Orchard Road, Serangoon Swing at Serangoon Garden Circus, Millennium Countdown Party at Downtown East and Countdown 2000 at Suntec City/Marina Square & Millennia Walk.

For the first time in public transport history, the MRT, LRT and buses will operate round-the-clock from Friday, 31 December 1999 to Saturday, 1 January 2000. With this unprecedented extension of service operating hours, late night revellers at the millennium parties would be able to enjoy the convenience of riding home on the public transport system after staying out to celebrate the advent of Year 2000 (please refer to Press Release issued by Transit Link Pte Ltd for more details).

Logistics arrangements, public transport, road closures, public safety measures for the party goers are crucial information that the public would be concerned about. Below are some general information on all the five major parties for the public to take note of:

• 6 PM – 3 AM
• From Claymore Road (Forum Galleria) to Buyong Road (Le Meridien)

• Refer to Annex A and location map for details on road closures between 26-31 Dec 99, closures of underpasses and URA carpark on 31 Dec 99 and 1 Jan 2000 as well as some important advice to the public

• 6.00 PM – 1.30 AM
• Tickets at $10 per person via SISTIC website (www.sistic.com.sg), SISTIC hotline at 348 5555 & Singapore Indoor Stadium Box Office (Ticket proceeds will go to charities)

• Shuttle bus services available from about 12 midnight to bring party-goers to Sentosa. Pick-up point is at the bus stop situated at the South Entrance of the National Stadium. Passengers will alight outside Sentosa Causeway bridge to purchase their tickets ($10 each) to the Sentosa Countdown 2000 party on Siloso Beach. There'll be three shuttle buses operating at a frequency of 15-20 minutes.
