Visit to the USA by RAdm (NS) Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, from 26 April to 1 May 1999

Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, RADM (NS) Teo Chee Hean will be travelling to the USA from 26 Apr - 1 May 99. He will be visiting Washington DC and Philadelphia.

In Washington DC, Minister Teo will meet with his counterpart, the US Secretary of Education, Mr Richard Riley to discuss issues in education. He will also call on other US leaders to discuss economic and defence issues. During his visit, Minister Teo will deliver an address "Can the Tigers Bounce Back? When?" at the Economic Strategy Insitute's 1999 International Trade and Economic Policy Forum on "The Crisis Continues: Rethinking Globalization".

Minister Teo will also be visiting high schools and universities in Washington and Philadelphia. While in Philadelphia, he will meet with senior academics and staff of the University of Pennsylvania, including the Wharton School. He is accompanied by senior MOE officials.
