PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE

Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong will attend the East Asia Economic Summit organised by the World Economic Forum in Hong Kong from 13 to 15 October 1997.

The Prime Minister will deliver a keynote address at the plenary session "Sustaining East Asian Competitiveness" on 14 October 1997. He will be hosted to a breakfast by Mr Tung Chee-hwa, Chief Executive, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He will also be the guest-of-honour at the Singapore Networking Lunch hosted by the Economic Development Board on 15 October 1997. The Prime Minister will hold separate meetings with other leaders who are participating in the East Asia Economic Summit.

During the Prime Minister’ absence, Deputy Prime Minister BG (NS) Lee Hsien Loong will be Acting Prime Minister.
