  • Synopsis :

This is part of the 'Home Economics - A Vital Force' series for Secondary 3 students. It is the second part of the 'Stretch Your Dollar' programme. It features Linda, who often spends more than what she can afford. On the other hand, May is prudent and very careful about spending, even when there are bargains. The teacher shares more ways to stretch one's dollar. She tells the students to make an informed decision before buying, such as comparing prices. This can ensure that they are getting their money's worth.

The programme also features the SISIR (Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research) mark. It tests consumer products to ensure that they meet the requirements of accepted safety standards. Another company that protects consumers' rights is CASE (Consumers Association of Singapore). It educates consumers against making uninformed purchases.
