CO 852/406/13: POSB: Malaya. Enquiries regarding accounts. Case of Asiatic Petroleum Company.

The company opened a large number of accounts with POSB for monies held in trust for their employees, customers and dealers. Ask that they be entitled to the sterling equivalents. Note that the pass books are lost along with many of their records, although they understand that a detailed list of deposits was sent to Melbourne, Australia in December 1942. A list of the deposits is included. Colonial Office refuses to allow the payment in sterling.
