Foreign Pol Dept. 3 Jan 1828, No. 6 - Correspondence among: 1) J Anderson, Secretary to Government Prince of Wales Island, Singapore and Malacca; 2) G Swinton, Secretary to Government at Fort William; and 3) J Prince, Resident Councillor at Singapore regarding the extract of a letter from the Court of Directors, stating that any claim which the British is supposed to hold over Rhio by virtue of the Treaty of March 1824 is at an end, 'as set forth in the President's Minute of 25 April 1825'. Hence, the British must not interfere with any arrangements which the Dutch might have made with the native chiefs of those islands. Sultan Hussein Mahomed Shaw, the eldest son of the late Sultan of Johore and who is residing at Singapore, must also be asked to withdraw his people from the Carimon Islands.
