Foreign Pol Dept. 12 Mar 1824 No. 6 - Letter from J Crawfurd, Resident at Singapore, to G Swinton, Secretary to Government, enclosing an extract of a letter from Batavia which gives an account of the capture of the Brig 'General De-kock' by pirates on the coast of Java on 29 Oct 1823. It also describes the imprisonment of R Thornton, an English businessman with an establishment at Batavia. A request is made in the extract for the sending of 'the Malay Rajah over to Lingen to intercede with the Pirates'.
