Foreign Pol Dept. 25 Jul 1823, No. 32 - Letter from the Government at Fort William to T S Raffles, informing him that his letter dated 1 May does not provide enough grounds for the supersession of Farquhar's appointment without authority from the government. He is also told that the incident has caused 'unnecessary pain' to Farquhar's feelings which ought to have been given greater consideration.
