Foreign Secret Cons. 22 Apr 1820 No. 1-13 - Letter from Vander Capellen, Secretary of State, Governor General of the Netherlandish Possessions in the East Indies, to Marquis of Hastings, Governor General of British India, regarding the desire imputed to the Dutch Govt. of monopolizing the trade of the Eastern Archipelago, and protesting against the occupation of Singapore by the British Authorities and against the power conferred in Prince Tungkulon, brother of the reigning Sultan of Djohor. Enclosed with this letter are 12 translated copies of correspondence, including two from Tungkulon and the Tommongong of Djohor, 'furnishing additional proofs that those two Princes recognize the Sultan Abdul Rahman Sha as their Sovereign'.
