WO 203/5126: Operation Zipper. Operational Reports

Correspondence from the Office of the Rear Admiral Commanding, 21st Aircraft Carrier Squadron forwarding a report pertaining to Operation Zipper together with reports from the Commanding Officers of six H.M. ships (Stalker, Emperor, Hunter, Empress, Khedive and Ameer). Enclosures include: Appendix A - Diary of events and Appendix B - A summary of flying (Forces 64 & 65) with a total of 102 sorties. As a result of the Japanese surrender, both the forces availability and their employment differed widely from the original plan. Any estimate of the effectiveness of the air support of this operation represents therefore no more than an opinion.
