WO 203/4984: Operation 'Bamboo' plan to seize Hastings Harbour: planning papers

HQ  Supreme Allied Commander South East Asia (SACSEA) Joint Planning Staff papers pertaining to Operation 'Bamboo'. Joint Planning Staff (JPS) paper 76 defined the plan to capture Hastings Harbour before the monsoon in 1945. The objective of this operation is to establish an Advanced Naval Landing Craft Base as well as a potential assembly and transhipment area from which amphibious operations could be mounted. Details include the assault plan and tactical intentions of Force Commanders. Joint Planning Staff (JPS) paper 89 examined the additional personnel required at SACSEA HQ to plan a post-monsoon Operation 'Bamboo'. Personnel with special intelligence, especially engineering intelligence, is required for the planning.
