WO 203/4771: Operations. Sea Reconnaissance Units: progress reports on operations

The Consolidated Sea Reconnaissance Units operations progress report for the period of 1 Nov 1944 to 31 May 1945 reported the Sea Reconnaissance Units arrival at Hammenhiel Camp. The troops underwent swimming, paddleboard, canoe and jungle training, with day and night tactical exercises. Sections 1, 2 and 4 were attached to 33 Corps of the 14 Army and carried out operations in the Irrawaddy area. Section 3 was attached to 15 Corps and carried out operations in the Arakan area. Contents include detailed reports of these operations and Intelligence Summaries prepared as a result of information gained. Reports of Lieut. Commander Wright on Sea Reconnaissance Units operations in Burma covered: a recce of beach approaches, channels and exits of a proposed embarkation point for the coming Corps crossing in the vicinity of Kukyun; a recce of the navigational hazards in the main river and the landing beaches; and a night recce to locate gun emplacement sites.
