Directives, signals and other documents on the conduct of civil affairs by the Military Administration in Malaya and Singapore. Papers also deal with the planning and the build up of forces for the re-occupation of Malaya and Singapore and with the situation in the Netherlands East Indies in the immediate post-war period. Also correspondence and memoranda pertaining to Force 136 and other activities during British Military Administration (BMA) in Malaya. A memorandum to the Joint Planning Staff on future Force 136 operations in Malaya contain plans of their activities such as: Force 136 agents have helped to organise and train a resistance movement throughout Malaya known as the Anti-Japanese Union and Forces (A.J.U.F.); and to support, strengthen and control the A.J.U.F. Movement so that it can play an effective role in military plans; and the introduction of Operation Carpenter into Singapore and is in W/T communication with Colombo
