The convent, located at corner of Bras Basah Road and Victoria Street and thus affectionately called "Town Convent", was founded by Father Jean Marie Beurel who bought the former private residence of H C Caldwell, built by George Coleman in the 1840s. In the background is the steeple of Cathedral of Good Shepherd, located opposite the convent, along Victoria Street.
