Aerial view of Alexandra Road (running left to right across centre of photograph) and Tiong Bahru Road (running from top left corner to right edge of photograph). The long buildings arranged in circles in the upper middle of the photograph are in Bukit Merah estate. The many round structures in the upper left are filter beds of sewerage treatment works in the area where Gan Eng Seng School now stands. The Alexandra canal flows across the lower half of the map from right to left, becoming the Singapore River downstream to the left.
