EAST COAST ROAD - KATONG BAKERY
The property was originally a residence but not painted red. It became popularly called the "Red House Bakery" after it was painted red. It was opened as a bakery in the 1920s first by Jim Baker and then Tan See Fang whose family continued the tradition till 2003. The bakery was famous for making the first 3-tier wedding cake in the 1920s. In later times, it was famous for Swiss rolls, char siew buns, cakes and pastries.
