Description of Raffles Place in 1950s, 1960s. Locals shopped in Change Alley. Goods at Robinson's, Whiteaways, and John Little were not meant for locals. Locals were forbidden to enter places like Raffles Hotel before 1960. Elaboration on Change Alley. Raffles Place was deserted by 7pm nightly. Why few people lunched in Raffles Place then.
