Circumstances leading to decision to relocate to Singapore. No idea about Singapore then.Came alone first to work in Stamford College. His first impressions of Singapore in 1975. Family joined him a little later – 2 sons by then.First accommodation in Singapore. Adjustment challenges of family. Use of public transport. Thoughts of returning to India after completing first 3-year contract. First boy’s schooling.Wife’s adjustment here. About his colleagues & students in Stamford College. Initially had reservations about decision to move to S’pore. Felt Stamford College underpaying him. How he got job in Texas Instruments(TI) after one year here.

Staff under him in Texas Instruments(TI). Working environment in TI. No adjustment problems in TI. His job in the company.Moving up the hierarchy. Frequent travelling. Sensitive items produced by TI. Great care about who buyers were. Developed training programmes for S’pore TI and its overseas centres.
Spent 22 good years in TI. Left the company in 1997/98.Reasons for decision to leave company. No jobs then. Part-time teaching job in MDIS. Appointment in Sarawak for 6 months.Appointment in Ernst & Young,Singapore. As consultant.Not happy with this job. Left after 6 months. A project in Kuala Lumpur for 3 to 4 months. Work culture in Malaysia.Then Sarawak again.Back to MDIS teaching undergraduates for overseas degrees. Language difficulties of some foreign students. Next a stint with PSB to conduct diploma courses.Left MDIS. Next teaching marketing. Left all this & last 15 years doing ad-hoc part-time day teaching for undergraduates pursuing degrees from overseas.Happy in this.Continuous learning for him.His initiation to computers.
Evolution of Singapore’s devt in the last 40 years. Felt S’pore losing the personal touch in pursuit of wealth. Decision to apply for PR in 1985.Not keen on citizenship then. Citizenship issue raised when eldest son went to National Service(NS). Related an incident leading him to apply for citizenship. Got it easily.His views about NS.About his 2 sons & his brief stint in New Zealand. Felt Singapore was his home. His interaction with the local Bengali community here.
