Synopsis

Interviewee was born in Venezuela where her family was also immigrants to that country.  She grew up in a rural area.  She studied Business Administration at the university and spent time as an intern in Rome, Italy.  She met her Italian husband Paolo when he was on work attachment in Venezuela.  Both of them explored work opportunities in Latin America but those economies were not doing well.  Her husband spent more time travelling to Asia for work and the company decided to set up an office in Singapore.  The Dependent Pass Scheme allowed interviewee to work in Singapore.  Interviewee talked about settling down in Singapore upon arrival.

Synopsis

Interviewee worked at the Italian Chamber of Commerce.  She talked about working in Singapore and found it dealing with Singapore companies.  She next worked in a consultancy company where she had good impression of government agencies.  Following that, she worked in a company dealing with infrastructure projects in the developing countries.  She cited the good banking system and support structure here.  She talked about her work environment and colleagues, and the role of foreign workers in Singapore.  She and her husband obtained permanent resident status in 2010 when government official encouraged her and her MBA classmates to apply.

Synopsis

Interviewee talked about her leisure activities in Singapore.  She noted that the arts scene has become more vibrant.  She was involved in church activities.   In 2003, she and a few friends organised the Italian Film Festival.  She talked about getting in touch with the community and also making friends in Singapore.  She made comparisons living in Venezuela, Italy and Singapore.   She had an affinity for Singapore.
