Synopsis

*Art2 gallery started in the early 1990s with Vera Ong and Seah Tze Yen - now only Ong as proprietor. They were previously colleagues working for a Japanese-owned gallery in Shenton Way in the 1980s. Worked from Seah's home before taking up a small gallery space in the Substation. Art2 had a synergetic fit with the Substation. Art2 also represented some established artists including Thomas Yeo and Iskandar Jalil. Art2 took up a 2nd gallery space in Ministry of the Information, Communication and the Arts (MICA) building. Spectrum of Art2's business included art consultancies to corporate clients.

Synopsis

*The nature of gallery space at Ministry of the Information, Communication and the Arts (MICA) : the MICA Atrium provided exhibition space but not much in terms of walk-in clients. Gave up Substation space after a while. Art scene and business opportunities in the 1990s. Clients included the NMAG and later Singapore Art Museum (SAM); Art2 began to develop interest in representing Vietnamese and Myanmar art.
