Synopsis

*Family background. Born in Alor Star, Kedah. Moved to Perak and then to Pulau Pinang. Early education in Pulau Pinang. His way of studying. Offered a job in Kuala Lumpur in 1964. Introduced and exposed to arts and films when in Kuala Lumpur. Started drawing by copying other art works. His experience of the job interview as a graphics designer at Filem Negara (National Film Unit, Malaysia) in 1967. Produced animated public service filmlets and documentaries. Winning an award for his first documentary at Asian Film Festival. Retired early as Head of Graphics Design Unit in 1995. Studying English Literature. Developed further interests in film narration and techniques of photography. Watched up to about 300 films a year as form of self-study.

Directed Malaysia’s first animation feature film “Silat Lagenda”. Use humour as a feature in his animation and television trailer works.
