Synopsis

*Personal background. Recited Teochew lullaby that was popular among the Teochews. Recited action rhyme for hide-and-seek that was popular among children. Learnt rhymes from grandmother, particularly those related to Chinese beliefs. Rhymes as source of entertainment in kampong days. Rhymes were often sung without any accompanying music. Recited rhymes that are popular even today, which could be heard on seventh month ge-tais and from radio stations. Teochew game rhyme on palm reading also recited.
