Synopsis

Born in 1936, Singapore.  How she witnessed the death of her family members during the Japanese bombing.  Her aunty sold her to a shop owner at the age of twelve.  How she was mistreated by the shop owner.  How the vegetable seller reported  her to the Social Welfare Department.  How coffee powder was used to heal her wounds.  Worked as live-in maid before becoming an amah at the Tanglin Medical Centre.  Recollections of Tanglin Medical Centre. Attended night classes to learn English.  Joined the British Military Hospital as a ward assistant.
