Synopsis

*Yvonne first came in contact with girl guides from her sister a brownie leader. The sister involved her in Brownie activities during primary school. When she joined RI, she joined the girl guides as a ranger. She joined NIE as a teacher and joined the guiders group. Posted to Clementi Town Secondary and become a guider for 7 years. She took her campers licence and organised activities for the students. She related the differences between her experience with her sister, as a guide in school and then as a teacher guider. Involved in a team to restructure and updating of activities for the girl guides to be relevant to the time. Involved in the Camp Committee and subsequently appointed the Camp Commissioner. Assisted with the setting up of Camp Christine. Later was appointed the Commissioner for the International Committee.

Synopsis

*Why changes were made to the process of obtaining a Camper's license. Described the activities that she was involved in as a member of the camp committee. She was involved in the International Committee. The Committe comprises about 10 people who are invited and do not belong to units. Additional members are invited during larger international events. She was later appointed as the international commissioner. Involved in organising various international guide activities as well as arranging for the participation of Singapore Girl Guides in international events abroad.

Synopsis

*The girl guides are under going organizational change. Different tier of membership. Subscribed to the belief that "once a guide always a guide" but is concerned about for the cost borne by the organisation. With most members, membership is not voluntary as teachers guiders tend to be appointed by their superiors. She aspires for members to associate themselves with the girl guides not just for work purposes. These members would be guiders by choice rather than by compulsion. There are plans for awards for guide leaders. She had many mentors and role models through the years that she had been involved in girl guide activities.

Synopsis

*The guides were given land and resources to develop a camp site for Guide Camping needs. Yvonne was a member of the Camp committee and had assisted the Camp commissioner, Peggy, with some of the arrangements involved in the initial set up of the camp. She mentioned several people who had inspired her during her years with the Girl Guides. Their each have forte with which they contribute towards the Girl Guides in their various roles and positions in committees.
