Synopsis
Born in 1945 in Singapore from father Rais bin Hassan whose father Hassan came to Singapore from Solo before World War II, and Yatimah binti Sarkawi originated also from Solo. Father worked as a Singapore police and lived at Hill Street Police Quarters.
Learnt first dancing while attending school at Geylang Craft Centre. Her teacher was Norma binti Hassan, a school friend, who taught her Tari Selendang. Besides dancing the Geylang Craft Centre taught her also cooking, sewing and office work. She finished school in 1965, and joined the Lion City Revue for three to four years. The owner was a European who took them every morning on a Kodak show at Westpoint Garden to dance various Malay dances as a tourist show, such as Mak Inang, Tanjong Katong, Lilin, Tempurung dances. It was a voluntary job as all the money earned by the group went to costumes and other performing expenses.

Synopsis
She joined Perkumpulan Seni in 1968, also the Persatuan Persuratan Pemuda Pemuda Melayu Singapura. In 1965 with husband Ali Sungip won the Malay dance competition in Selangor. Went on the Perkumpulan Seni tour to Madras in the 1970s and in 1992 the People’s Association tour to Jakarta and Bandung. Danced with her husband, Ali Sungip choreographies as Tapak Sirih, Selamat Datang. Remembered a competition that she won without preparation, on the spot, with her husband in the 1960s Perkumpulan Seni - Serampang Dua Belas competition at Newton.
The Juror was such novelty as Nongchik Ghani. After getting too busy with raising children stopped gradually dancing and supported husband only, who continued up to the present, in particular teaching, organizing Malay performing arts in Singapore for various entertaining and community centers activities.
