Synopsis
Boarded ship for Singapore. Incident when German submarine captain was mistaken for prisoner-of-war (POW) by Japanese officer. Left Singapore for Japan on 6 September 1944. Convoy was attacked on 12 September. Jumped ship and remained in water for six days. Rescued by American submarine. Recuperated at Saipan and returned to Australia on 25 October. Informed Australian intelligence about Death Railway. After failed mission in Borneo, he was sent to Italy in 1945. Returned home in March 1946. What he did after war and why he likes to return to Southeast Asia.
