Enlisted in Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) in 1940. Travelled on "S. S. Queen Mary". Sent to 10th Australian General Hospital (AGH) in Malacca in February 1941. Description of her uniform. Evacuation of 10 AGH and 2nd/4th Casualty Clearing Station (CCS) to Johore Bahru. Joined with 13 AGH. Bombing of Singapore. Evacuated from Singapore on "S. S. Vyner Brooke". Ship sunk by Japanese. Rescued and treatment by Japanese at Muntok. Heard about massacre of nurses. Prisoners-of-war (POWs) that she met. Moved to Palembang. Nurses selected as prostitutes for Japanese officers.
