Synopsis
*Joined Royal New Zealand Air Force in 1939. Flew to Palembang in December 1941, and then to Singapore. Fled to Java but was taken prisoner when the Dutch surrendered. Suffered malaria, dysentry and beri-beri at Java. Volunteered to go to Japan in 1942.
