*Member of Tamil Teachers' Union. As part of social work, taught Tamil in social welfare centre's Tamil classes twice weekly. Tamil Teachers's Union's role. After People Action Party  (PAP) came into power, all four languages given equal importance and Teachers of all four languages paid same wages. Tamil language began to flourish. Many of her students became Tamil teachers.
