Synopsis
Caste consciousness rooted in India. People in lower caste segregated from society, temples and certain parts of villages. Came to Singapore in 1950 and has been in temples since then. Veerama Kaliamman Temple a small building in Serangoon Road, popular with Indians along Serangoon Road. Cattle breeders used to bring cows and milk them on the spot to supply to temples and householders.
