Born in Indonesia. Eurasian background. Studied engineering but interested in music. Met Zubir Said when he was touring region with His Master's Voice (HMV). Joined him and came to Singapore. Explanation on gamelan and Hawaiian music. How he helped Zubir Said with arranging music and writing scores.

After war, worked with Radio Singapore on part-time basis, writing and arranging songs. Offered music employment in England but declined. Obtained diploma as music examiner. Teaches music part-time. Also a voluntary social worker; visits welfare homes. Adopted 3 children. Comparison of pre-war and post-war music. Qualities of a musician.
