*Family was bullied in China. Hardships encountered by her and her mother in Singapore. Joined People's Action Party (PAP) in 1955. Activities organised by PAP Women's Section. Role of Women's Section in 1957. Tanjong Pagar By-elections. Elected to Central Executive Committee (CEC) at Special Party Conference in October 1957. Stood for City Council Elections 1957. Her election compaign in Kampong Glam.

Twice involved in leading kin of political detainees (those arrested during Operation Coldstore) on peaceful petition to seek detainees' release. Account of what happened on 22 April 1963 at City Hall. Retired from politics in 1963.
