Synopsis
Fighting broke out among different secret societies factions at Duxton Road in connection with Tanjong Pagar by-election 1957. His services during 1964 racial riots. Interviewee's clansmen continued to support People's Action Party (PAP) after split between PAP and Barisan Sosialis. Appointed chairman of PAP Tanjong Pagar Branch soon after Legislative Assembly Elections 1955. Conflicts with pro-communist faction in PAP led him to break away from PAP before 1957 by-election.
