Synopsis

How villagers celebrated various festivals in a year; most important being Chinese New Year. Weather condition of different months. Majority of villagers were poor. How Hainanese chicken rice came about. Villagers walked to town as bus or lorry was rare. How they depended on wells for water and made oil for lamps.

Synopsis

How he was saved and stayed in Thailand. Upon return to Singapore, he started working as a sailor. How he went through different levels of tests and worked way up to be chief engineer. Encounter with typhoon in sea near Hainan Island in 1965. His employment with Ki Fok Company from 1953 to 1965.
