Synopsis

Personal background. Trained as seaman. Joined PRINCE OF WALES. Sailed from Singapore to South China Sea on 8 December 1941. Spotted by Japanese reconnaissance plane. Bombing by torpedo bombers. Torpedoes hit ship. Ship sank; he jumped into sea. Rescued by EXPRESS. Taken to Singapore. Later sent to destroy refinery in Pulau Bukom. Then escaped to Palembang and Bombay. Served in Royal Naval Office; later in cruiser to Algiers.

Synopsis

First bombing of Singapore. More intense bombing later. He sailed to Palembang after destroying refinery. Further elaboration on air attack of PRINCE OF WALES and REPULSE.
