Synopsis

Stayed at shophouse. Sold charcoal at Waterloo Street. Parents lived in Jurong. Joined Defence Corps set up by Chinese Chamber of Commerce in 1941. His duties in the Corps. Japanese attacked Singapore with aerial bombardment. He and fellow shop assistant sought shelter at Cathay Building. General confusion when he returned to shophouse on 15 February 1942. Told to assemble at Arab Street.
