The Oldest German Map Of Singapore
1835
Handcoloured reproduction from an original by Heinrich Carl Wilhelm Berghaus (1797-1884), engraved by W. Jaeck and W. Brose in Berlin and was published by geographer Justus Perthes in Gotha in 1835. Based on the surveys of Captain James Horsburgh F.R.S., Captain Daniell Ross and Captain Franklin, the map is virtually identical to that published in 1830 in "Memoir of the Life and Public Services of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles" by Lady Sophia Raffles-only the names are different
